Botswana safari . . . for work, not pleasure!
At the end of the month I am off on a Botswana safari for about two weeks. “That’s the kind of job I could do with”, I hear you say! You’re right, I can’t say I’m complaining! But I do pay for it in more ways than just financially.
In these two weeks I will be visiting or staying in about 20+ different lodges. I not only have to thoroughly check the places in terms of their facilities, cleanliness, staff, health & safety and so on, but then I have to write it all up. On my return I will have to update web pages, rewrite words for booking packs, train my consultants on everything I’ve seen, update all photos … it takes about two weeks to catch up from the two weeks away, so for about 1 month I don’t get a day off. At the end of all this, you end up pretty well shattered.
I can tell you’re really feeling sorry for me!
OK, I guess I also have to confess and tell you the good bits too. I will be going on safari in between lodge inspections. I’ll be visiting the Okavango Delta, Victoria Falls, Chobe and the Makgadikgadi Pans. Botswana really does have some incredible places. I’ll be sure to let you know all the good bits of what I see when I get back!
